By dc.internet.com Staff March 5, 2001 Artesia Technologies of Rockville, Md., is a developing a centralized repository for Emap France, a division of global media company Emap plc. The implementation of Artesia's enterprise digital asset management software, TEAMS, will be used to support Emap France's wide range of consumer specialist magazines and Internet publishing initiatives. Emap produces more than 40 magazines for the French market, including 5 of the top 20 selling French publications. The company is ranked number 3 in French consumer publishing with a 16 percent market share. The repository has been designed to provide enhanced access to the magazine publishing company's huge number of rich media assets: images, text and video, as well as the ability to easily repurpose these assets from one format to another so that they may be readily redeployed within a number of cross-media publishing efforts. "Emap France is structuring its business to embrace new opportunities for growth," said Philippe Montjolin, IT director for Emap France. "We chose TEAMS because it allows us to develop, sell and license multimedia products and assets in an efficient manner using standard technologies. We are now in a position to increase our market penetration through effective and profitable use of our existing assets." The software is being implemented in one of Emap's imaging departments to create a comprehensive image repository for the company's Web sites and TV listings titles, such as Tele Star and Tele Poche. This implementation of TEAMS 4.1 is scheduled to be completed by the end of the first quarter. The implementation, training and sale of Artesia's TEAMS solution to Emap France was conducted through the company's European division, which is headquartered in London. In addition to Emap France, Artesia's European operations are driving the adoption of digital asset management by a number of organizations based on the continent, as well as supporting the use of the company's technology by a number of multi-national corporations. "Emap France invested 12 months in deciding how to manage its digital assets," said Matthew Wallis, vice president and European general manager of Artesia Technologies. "They concluded that TEAMS' robust and scalable design, along with Artesia's valuable after-sales training and implementation, gave Emap the flexibility they needed for creating a multi-platform digital library addressing the company's unique needs."
